Complete Care Guide for Your REV’IT! Apparel
Follow these tips to extend the functionality and appearance of your gear.
Many people think that motorcycle riding gear can be treated like everyday or even sportswear, which leads to the premature loss of its functional and aesthetic qualities. In reality, the washing and maintenance requirements are very different, and following the label instructions makes all the difference in keeping each piece in excellent condition for years.
Always check the washing label inside your REV’IT! gear before cleaning it. If there are multiple layers (such as a removable liner), check the label on each layer. The instructions on the label take precedence over any other guidelines provided below.
Leather Apparel
- Remove surface dirt with a damp cloth and warm water.
- Let the garment dry at room temperature, away from direct heat sources or sunlight.
- After drying, apply a leather cleaner and conditioner, such as REV’IT! Leather Cleaner and REV’IT! Leather Conditioner, to maintain the material’s flexibility and appearance.
Textile Apparel
- Before washing, remove all inner liners and protectors. Close all zippers, snap fasteners, and Velcro systems to prevent fabric damage.
- Use a liquid detergent specially formulated for technical fabrics, such as REV’IT! Textile Wash. This detergent removes stains without compromising waterproof membranes and breathable fabrics.
- Wash separately on a delicate cycle at a maximum temperature of 30°C (86°F).
- Never use fabric softeners, as they can compromise the membrane’s functionality.
- Hang garments to dry without direct sun exposure. Do not use a tumble dryer.
Denim Pants
- Remove all protectors and turn the pants inside out. Close all zippers and buttons.
- Wash separately on a delicate cycle at a maximum temperature of 30°C (86°F) with an appropriate liquid detergent.
- Do not use fabric softeners, as they compromise the fabric’s functionality.
- Hang the pants to dry without direct sun exposure. Do not use a tumble dryer.
Gloves
- Clean gloves by hand with a damp cloth. For tough stains, use mild soap or a specific leather or textile cleaner.
- Do not expose gloves to solvents, gasoline, or harsh cleaning agents, as they can alter the material’s properties.
- Let gloves dry at room temperature, away from direct heat sources or sunlight.
- Store gloves in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Footwear
- Let footwear dry naturally, without placing it near heaters or under direct sunlight.
- Remove dust and dirt from dry footwear with a cloth or soft brush.
- For tough stains, use a specific leather cleaner.
Footwear requires specific care depending on the material:
- Waxed pull-up leather: Apply colorless polish or shoe wax in the same color as the leather.
- Full-grain leather: Use colorless polish or one that matches the leather color.
- Suede and nubuck: Use only a soft brush for cleaning. Never apply polish or wax.
Follow these guidelines to ensure your gear maintains its functionality and appearance for many years, and always remember that the washing labels contain the specific instructions for each piece.
